People Are Human-Bacteria Hybrid
Most of the cells in your body are not your own, nor are they even human. They are bacterial. From the invisible strands of fungi waiting to sprout between our toes, to the kilogram of bacterial matter in our guts, we are best viewed as walking "superorganisms," highly complex conglomerations of human cells, bacteria, fungi and viruses.

Attitude Doesn't Affect Cancer Survival
Having a positive attitude may help cancer patients deal with their disease, but it doesn't directly affect survival, according to one of the largest and most rigorously designed investigations ever to examine the issue...The study included more than 1,000 people treated for head and neck cancer; the emotional state of patients was found to have no influence on survival.
Researchers Knock Out HIV
With the latest advances in treatment, doctors have discovered that they can successfully neutralise the HIV virus. The so-called "combination therapy" prevents the HIV virus from mutating and spreading, allowing patients to rebuild their immune system to the same levels as the rest of the population.

Fearful looks get brain's attention fast: study | Science | Reuters
Smiles may take a while, but a horrified expression is a sure-fire attention getter...based on a study of how fast people process facial expressions...They believe fearful facial expressions make a beeline to the alarm center of the brain known as the amygdala, cuing humans to potential threats..."We think what is happening with fear is that this is a critical threat signal for us," said David Zald...."Fear tells you something is wrong and you need to pay attention," Zald said in a telephone interview....To find out which images get the brain's attention first, Zald...used a technique called visual flash suppression that slows down the brain's responses to facial expressions -- which typically register in less than 40 milliseconds.

We tend to think that getting things such as a job, a new car, winning the lotto is what will make us happy. But he says that studies have shown that we make ourselves happy by imagining that we are happy. So getting what we want doesn't actually have anything to do with being happy.
