I lost my GIMP toolbox? But even when I found it again, it was so different from the default toolbox that I couldn’t use it.

The solution is to reset the GIMP toolbox to it’s default settings via a slightly hidden button in the Preferences popup.

  1. Under the menu item GIMP, select Preferences (Windows users select Preferences under the File menu).
  2. Select Window Management
  3. Click on Reset Saved Window Positions to Default Values
  4. RESTART GIMP (the toolbox will not reset without a restart)

For you visual types (like myself), here’s a short video of the process by a youthful, drunk sounding, GIMP user.
