Helen Keller Quote

Helen Keller Quote

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.
~ Helen Keller

“Ramen” to that!  This Helen Keller quote points to a common seed of  depression. When I’m depressed, I see only the negative thing, the closed door–I can’t break out of that focus to find alternatives. I feel trapped.

When I manage to defeat depression, I can always point to a change in perspective where I see options or possibilities I could not see before. It can take time, and often requires the help of family and friends, but in the end it’s all about focusing on the open door.
