Albannach offering FREE download of “The Independence” EP

Albannach is Scots-Gaelic for “Scottish” or “Scotsman,” and it’s also the name of a fantastic Scottish band. What sets them apart is their heavy use of percussion, which is a bit of the reason my beautiful wife, who is Deaf, can still feel/hear their wonderful music. Good energy. These guys, and one lass, truly rock!

In support of the vote for Scotland’s independence, Albannach is offering their EP The Independence as a free download.

No excuse not to give a listen. Below is a video sampler as well.

Lisa Hannigan – I Don’t Know – Sung in Irish Pub

“I Don’t Know” is one of my favorite songs by Lisa Hannigan. I think this was the video that caught the interest of Stephen Colbert, which lead him to put her on his Colbert Report show. According the YouTube blurb, the video was recorded  at the Sugar Club pub on Leeson Street in Dublin on 27 November 2009. The poor trumpeter had to tone things down to save the ears of his band-mates, so there are some weak moments there, but even so, it’s a very appealing video—and the rest of the Sea Sew album is terrific as well.
