Dunno why, but I found this video moving. It's of a spent solid rocket booster separating from the NASA space shuttle and falling to earth, landing in the ocean. Be sure to have sound on. The recorded sounds make it quite eerie.

Heard a piece on NPR about kids and intelligence. Those that believed, or were taught, that intelligence grows as you learn, that the brain grows and makes new connections all the time, those kids did better in school (based on math scores?). While those who believed or were taught that intelligence is fixed saw little or no improvement (on math scores?). Need to track down. Some Ph.D. wrote a book.

"All good work is self revelation" I heard director Sidney Lumet say that in an interview. He was probably quoting someone else....
All good work is self revelation.
Saw an interview with Paddy Chayefsky. He said that TV is never truth. It can't be. Especially TV news (this from the writer of Network). Why? Because TV reports on an 40 minute speech with a 30-second soundbite.
But all reporting selects. This is a value judgment, this selection, reporting process. Reporting can NOT be objective. The best it can do is try to find balance in the points of view reported.

Primal doubts - Heard that phrase on the movie Network. Primal doubts...Enter it in Google and you get little. Primal doubts. What do that mean? What was screenwriter Paddy Chayefsky trying to say? Primal doubts?
