- Test CD/DVD in another drive/machine
- Clean disc with water or water and mild detergent
- Test CD/DVD.
- If error persists, Polish with toothpaste.
- Test CD/DVD.
- If error persists, use metal polish (Brasso)
- Test CD/DVD.
- WARNING: This step could ruin your machine. If error persists, Rub Vaseline on the CD, very gently (do not press hard); start at center and move out to rim. BE SURE to remove excess Vaseline from disc before inserting into machine. Not sure I'd even try this step--could RUIN your MACHINE.
- Test CD/DVD.
- If error persists, repeat steps, focusing on scratch that is causing the error OR... buy new disc.

- Armor All - Automotive Interior Cleaner
- Pledge - Furniture Wax
- Brasso - Brass/Metal Polisher
- Petroleum Jelly
- Recovering Scratched CDs
