Definition of Stress - Hans Selye, M.D., a recognized expert in the field, has defined stress as a...
"nonspecific response of the body to a demand."
Nonspecific response of the body to a demand? Maybe a better (or equally as obscure) definitions is:
"A response of the body to a non-specific demand."
Or, to cover all bases:
"A non-specific response of the body to a non-specific demand."
Stress is related to anxiety, and anxiety is about degrees of uncertainty. We expect our actions to have a predictable effect. When they do not, we feel anxiety...predictable positive OR negative--does it matter. Is the predictability the issue, or positive, or both? Am I using "effect" correctly.
